2012 Big Ten Baseball Tournament Bracket
PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Michigan State baseball team will be making its third appearance in four years at the Big Ten Tournament next week at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.
The Spartans (35-19, 13-11 Big Ten) are the No. 5 seed in the six-team, double-elimination tournament, and will face fourth-seeded Nebraska (34-21, 14-10) in the first round Wednesday at 12:05 p.m.
MSU and Nebraska did not play a regular-season series in 2012 and have only met three previous times on the diamond, most recently in 1982.
Regular-season champion Purdue (41-12, 17-7) earned the top seed, while Indiana (30-26, 16-8) also earned a bye as the No. 2 seed.
In Wednesday's other first-round matchup, third-seeded Penn State (29-25, 15-9) will take on sixth-seeded Ohio State (31-25, 11-13) at 3:35 p.m.
The winner of the Big Ten Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
All Big Ten Tournament games will be broadcast live on BTN.
