Women's Tennis Prepares for Western Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis will face Western Michigan Friday, Feb. 22, in its first away dual of the season. The match will take place in Kalamazoo, Mich., at 5 p.m. The Spartans are 7-2 in duals this season.
MSU fell last Sunday, Feb. 17, to DePaul, 6-1. Senior Marina Bohrer picked up the lone Spartan point on court one against No. 72 Matea Cutura.
At the No. 1 spot this season, Bohrer sits with an 8-1 record, her only loss this season was to No. 84 Julia Fellerhoff of Louisville. With a 6-3 record on court two is sophomore Catherine Parenteau. Freshman Emily Meyers has tallied an 8-1 record, after seeing action on courts four, five and six. Senior Nicole Herzog and junior Katarina Lingl have both posted 5-2 records in singles play.
In doubles matches, Meyers and sophomore Julianne Gruber lead the Spartans with a 5-1 record. At the No. 1 spot, Bohrer and Parenteau have paired up to notch a 5-2 record.
Michigan State women's tennis currently holds a 41-13 (.759) record in singles and 18-7 (.720) in doubles during this season
Western Michigan at Work
The Broncos are 6-3 on the season after picking up two wins last weekend. Western Michigan fell to Youngstown State, 4-3, on Feb. 15, before rebounding to shutout IUPUI and Bradley on Feb. 16.
In singles play, on court one Nini Sujahvilli is 7-2 on the season. Kathleen Hawkins has produced a 5-2 record with appearances on courts two and three throughout the spring season. Broncos' Maggie Remynse is 7-1 with time at the No. 3 and 4 spots.
Taking the lead in doubles matches are Jill Pastunick and Sujashvilli with a 4-2 record at the top spot. Kelsey King has paired up with Remynse and Pastunick on court two, tallying a 2-0 mark with both.
Next Up
Michigan State will begin Big Ten conference matches at Michigan on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The in-state rival teams will face off in Ann Arbor, Mich., at 5 p.m.
