Michigan State has won 47 of its last 60 games (.783), dating back to the beginning of the 2010 season . . . in addition, the Spartans have won 20 of their last 22 games (.909), dating back to the 2012 regular-season finale . . . only Florida State (19) has more wins than Michigan State (18) since the beginning of last season.
Michigan State is 20-9 (.690) in Big Ten road games under MSU head coach Mark Dantonio, including a seven-game winning streak and a 14-3 record (.824) since 2010 . . . Dantonio has won at least one road game at every Big Ten stadium.
MSU extended its winning streak in Big Ten games to 11 and its winning streak against Big Ten opponents to 12 (including 2013 Big Ten Championship Game vs. Ohio State) . . . the 11-game winning streak in Big Ten Conference play is the second longest in school history (16 straight from Oct. 2, 1965 to Oct. 21, 1967) . . . the Spartans defeated Minnesota in the 2012 Big Ten finale, went 8-0 in conference play in 2013, and are off to a 2-0 start in 2014.
Coach Mark Dantonio moved into third place on the career wins list at Michigan State with his 69th victory at MSU; Dantonio is 69-30 (.697) as head coach of the Spartans . . . Dantonio also won his 40th Big Ten game; his .690 winning percentage (40-18) in Big Ten games ranks first at MSU (minimum 10 Big Ten games).
The Spartans won their sixth straight game against Purdue, tying the longest winning streak against the Boilermakers in school history (won six in a row from 1985-90) . . . Dantonio is 6-0 vs. Purdue, including a 3-0 record at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Jeremy Langford had 104 rushing yards on 13 carries (8.0 avg.); it marks his 10th straight game with at least 100 yards rushing against a Big Ten team . . . Langford is the first Big Ten player with nine consecutive regular-season conference games with more than 100 yards rushing since Penn State's Curtis Enis in 1996-97 (11) . . . it also marks Langford's 11th career 100-yard game and third straight this season (137 vs. Wyoming; 111 vs. Nebraska); his 11 100-yard rushing games rank ninth most in MSU history . . . Langford moved into 17th place all-time at Michigan State in career rushing yards with 2,000.
Tony Lippett had seven catches for 138 yards for his fourth 100-yard game of the season; he has caught a touchdown pass in eight consecutive games after hauling in a 39-yard pass for a score in the first quarter.
Connor Cook threw three touchdown passes and moved past Brian Hoyer into seventh place in MSU history with 36 career TD passes . . . Cook has now thrown a TD pass in 13 straight games (school record: 16) . . . Cook recorded his 12th 200-yard passing game of his career (19-of-37 for 238 yards) . . . Cook improved his record to 17-2 as the starting quarterback for MSU, including an 11-0 record against Big Ten opponents.
With MSU leading 38-31 and Purdue facing a third-and-8 on its own 22-yard line with 1:29 remaining in the game, Darien Harris recorded his first career interception and ran it back 15 yards for his first career touchdown to ice the victory for the Spartans . . . Michigan State has now scored 20 defensive touchdowns in the Dantonio era (since the beginning of the 2007 season) . . . Harris also had six tackles, including a 2-yard tackle for loss.
Nick Hill tied a career best with two rushing touchdowns (2 yards in the first quarter; 4 yards in the third quarter) . . . Hill finished with a season-high 72 yards on nine carries (8.0 avg.) . . . Hill leads the team through six games with five rushing touchdowns.
Aaron Burbridge recorded his first receiving touchdown of the season with an acrobatic 13-yard TD catch in the third quarter . . . Burbridge finished the game with 35 all-purpose yards (three rushes for 14 yards; two catches for 21 yards).
The Spartans amassed 532 yards of total offense; it marks the third time this season that MSU has collected more than 500 yards of total offense in a game this season (565 vs. Jacksonville State; 533 vs. Wyoming).
Under Dantonio, Michigan State is 55-11 (.833) when outrushing its opponent, including a 39-4 record (.907) since 2010 . . . the Spartans are 24-3 (.889) in games when gaining 200 or more rushing yards under Dantonio . . . MSU outrushed Purdue, 294-129.
MSU scored on its first four possessions of the game and on six of its first seven, including five touchdowns and one field goal.
