SERIES NOTES
Michigan State defeated Michigan for the sixth time in the last seven meetings, including a school-record fourth straight time at Spartan Stadium with Saturday's 35-11 final . . . The 24-point win over Michigan was MSU's largest win over the Wolverines since 1967 (won 34-0) . . . The last two years, MSU has outscored Michigan 64-17 . . . the 35 points are the most for MSU against Michigan in Spartan Stadium and tied for the second most in series history for the Spartans . . . Michigan State's 35 points were its most scored against Michigan since also scoring 35 in the 2008 meeting, won by MSU, 35-21, in Ann Arbor . . . MSU head coach Mark Dantonio is now 6-2 against Michigan (.750) during his tenure as Spartans' head coach, including 4-1 in Spartan Stadium . . . MSU's margin of victory in Dantonio's six wins over UM is +16.3 points . . . Dantonio has the highest winning percentage of any Spartan coach against Michigan . . . Michigan leads the all-time series, 68-34-5, including 19-14-2 in East Lansing.
With MSU's 219-61 rushing advantage, the team with the most productive run ground attack has won 42 of the last 45 games in the MSU-UM series . . . Since Mark Dantonio's arrival to MSU in 2007, the Spartans have outrushed the Wolverines by 858 yards (1,490-632).
Mark Dantonio is now ranked second all-time in wins at Michigan State with 71 (school record: Duffy Daugherty with 109) . . . Dantonio owns a record of 71-30 (.703) at MSU . . . Dantonio is also 42-18 in Big Ten games (.700).
Michigan State has now won 49 of its last 62 games (.790), dating back to the beginning of the 2010 season . . . MSU has also won 22 of its last 24 games (.917), dating back to the 2012 regular-season finale.
Under Dantonio, MSU has produced a 43-11 record in home games, including 12 straight victories.
Saturday was also Michigan State's 13th-straight Big Ten Conference win, which is the second-longest in school history (school-record 16 from 1965-67) . . . In addition, MSU has won 14 consecutive games against Big Ten opponents (2013 Big Ten Championship Game vs. No. 2 Ohio State).
Saturday's sellout crowd of 76,331 was the 68th-consecutive sellout in the Michigan State-Michigan series, dating from 1948.
The home team has won 17 of the last 23 meetings between Michigan State and Michigan, including the last four . . . Saturday marked the first time in series history that MSU has hosted UM in consecutive years.
MSU is now 36-10 (.783) as a ranked team in the AP poll under Dantonio . . . As a ranked team, Michigan State has not lost to an unranked opponent under Dantonio (26-0).
OFFENSE
Connor Cook has now thrown a touchdown pass in each of his last 15 games (school record: 16 by Kirk Cousins and Drew Stanton) . . . Cook recorded his sixth 200-yard passing game of the season and 14th of his career, completing 12-of-22 throws for 227 yards with one TD . . . With the one TD, Cook became the seventh MSU QB to throw for at least 40 career TDs . . . With his 227 yards, Cook now has 4,717 career yards, needing just 283 to become the ninth MSU QB to reach the 5,000 career passing yards plateau . . . Cook's 22 pass attempts give him 595 for his career, moving him to No. 10 on MSU's career pass attempts list . . . The 12 pass completions by Cook give him 352 for his career, needing eight for the No. 9 spot on MSU's career pass completions list.
Jeremy Langford rushed for a career-high 177 yards; it's the fifth-highest single-game total for a Spartan vs. Michigan . . . He scored multiple touchdowns in a game for the seventh time in his career with his career-high tying three rushing TDs Saturday . . . Langford extended his school record by posting his 12th-straight 100-yard game against a Big Ten opponent and his 11th-straight in conference action . . . the 11-game 100-yard streak in regular-season conference games is the longest active streak in the FBS and the second-longest streak in the last 10 seasons (Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey, 12 straight) . . . Langford's three rushing TDs give him 28 for his career, which moves him up to tie for No. 8 on MSU's career rushing TD list . . . Langford now has 2,186 career rushing yards, good for No. 16 on MSU's career rushing list . . . In his last two games vs. Michigan, Langford has rushed 61 times for 297 yards (148.5 ypg.) and four touchdowns . . . Langford was the fourth game captain for the Spartans vs. Michigan.
Tony Lippett recorded his sixth 100-yard receiving game of the season, with three receptions for 103 yards and one touchdown with a 70-yard TD catch . . . The 70-yarder was Lippett's second-longest of the season and his career behind a 71-yarder in the season-opener against Jacksonville State . . . It was Lippett's ninth game in his last 10 outings with a TD catch as his streak of eight in a row was snapped last week at Indiana . . . Lippett has now caught a pass in 18 consecutive games.
Michigan State rushed for three touchdowns on a Michigan defense that had allowed just one rush TD in last five games entering Saturday.
Michigan State has scored touchdowns on its first possession in six of its eight games this season.
With its 446 yards of total offense, MSU has now totaled over 400 yards in all eight games this season . . . MSU has rushed for at least 200 yards in six games this season.
MSU entered Saturday's game leading the FBS in time of possession . . . The Spartans dominated Saturday's clock with a 33:46-26:14 advantage.
DEFENSE
The MSU defense's streak of keeping Michigan out of the end zone ended after 11 quarters on a 1-yard TD by De'Veon Smith with 3:30 left in the fourth quarter . . . MSU held Michigan out of the end zone for a total of 186:08, dating back to the 2011 game in the fourth quarter.
In the last two games vs. Michigan, the Spartans have recorded 18 tackles for loss (96 yards), including nine sacks (62 yards).
The Spartan defense forced three turnovers Saturday, for their seventh game this season with at least one turnover . . . It was also the fourth game this season with multiple turnovers forced . . . MSU has now forced at least one turnover in 81 of its last 101 games over the last eight seasons.
MSU's +3 in the turnover category is nearly double the Spartans' season average of 1.57 per game, which led the Big Ten and ranked tied for third in FBS entering Saturday.
RJ Williamson's 29-yard interception return for a touchdown marked the second defensive touchdown scored by the Spartans this season and the 21st since Mark Dantonio became head coach in 2007 . . . It was also the sixth time in Dantonio's eight seasons at the helm of the Spartans that the MSU defense has had multiple defensive TDs in a season.
The 186 yards of total offense yielded by the Michigan State defense marks the second game this season in holding the opposition under 200 total yards (135 vs. Eastern Michigan).
By limiting Michigan to 61 rushing yards, the MSU defense held the opponent under 100 yards rushing for the fifth time this season . . . UM's 125 passing yards are the third-fewest allowed by MSU this season (11 at Indiana, 115 vs. Eastern Michigan).
Michigan State's defense posted four three-and-outs Saturday.
Taiwan Jones led the Michigan State defense with eight tackles and also snared his first career interception . . . Jones added two tackles for loss, including an 8-yard sack and a 7-yard tackle behind the line of scrimmage . . . Jones now has a tackle for loss in five straight games.
Darien Harris tied a career high with seven stops, including a 1-yard tackle for loss.
Ed Davis and Kurtis Drummond logged six stops apiece, with Davis recording two tackles for loss for a total of 6-yards lost and Drummond posting one, a 4-yard loss . . . in his last two games against Michigan, Davis has recorded 10 tackles, including 4.5 for losses (20 yards).
The 29-yard interception return by RJ Williamson was his second interception this season and the fifth of his career . . . It marked Williamson's first career touchdown.
