EAST LANSING, Mich.- Michigan State field hockey senior forward Abby Barker has been selected to play in this year's Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior Game. There will be 38 seniors from around the country taking place in the game, which will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at the University of Maryland at 3 p.m.
"This is an awesome event where the student athletes get to play with, rather than against, their opponents from the past four years," said head coach Helen Knull. "It is a great way for Abby to cap off a phenomenal career where she will represent not only Michigan State but also the Big Ten Conference."
Barker was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this season. She has started in all 17 games of her senior season, leading the Spartans to a 10-7 record and 4-4 mark in conference play that puts them in a tie for fourth place in the standings with 12 points.
Barker and the Spartans conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 at home when they take on No. 9 Louisville. Barker and the other five Spartan seniors will be recognized before the game for their hard work and dedication to the program in their time at Michigan State. The Spartans will then head to Ann Arbor the following weekend for the Big Ten Tournament, with their opening round game on Thursday.
