East Lansing, Mich. - - Michigan State's three-game series with Purdue, scheduled to be played at Secchia Stadium this weekend, has been moved to West Lafayette. With the exceptionally brutal winter, the field conditions at Secchia Stadium have improved, but not enough to play games this weekend.
"We have the best field and turf people in the business, but this winter has been a challenge that even they can't overcome," said head coach Jacquie Joseph. "Every northern school is dealing with the same problems that we are having - we've received a record amount of snow, had record-low temperatures all winter, and just not a warm enough March to have us ready to go. This was a winter where southern states like Georgia and the Carolinas have cancelled games due to snow - hopefully, we will soon be rewarded with a mild spring that will allow us to enjoy our other games at Secchia Stadium."
The Spartans will remain the home team in the series. Friday's game will be played at 4 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday's contests scheduled for 1 p.m. All three games will be played at the Boilermaker Softball Complex.
MSU won two of three in its 2013 series with Purdue, but the Boilers eliminated MSU from the Big Ten Tournament in May.
