Michigan State has won 10 straight games, tied for the fifth-longest winning streak in school history and the second longest under Mark Dantonio (11 straight in 2013-14). The 10-game run is also the fourth-longest active streak in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (Ohio State: 19; TCU: 14; Memphis: 12).
Michigan State now leads the overall series against Rutgers, 4-3, including a 2-1 record in games played in New Jersey.
Aaron Burbridge had a career-high 10 catches and tied his career high with 156 yards; it marked his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season.
Connor Cook threw for a career-high 367 yards, the fourth-highest single-game total in MSU history.
Michigan State started its fourth different combination on the offensive line this season. Kodi Kieler returned to action for the first time since Week 2 vs. Oregon and started his first career game at left tackle (10 previous starts at right tackle). Donavon Clark (right tackle), Benny McGowan (right guard), Jack Allen (center) and Brian Allen (left guard) rounded out the starting lineup for the Spartans. Jack Allen also played at left tackle, and Brian Allen played at center.
Michigan State is now 24-9 in Big Ten road games under MSU head coach Mark Dantonio, including a school-record 11-game winning streak and a 18-3 record since 2010. Dantonio has won at least one road game at every Big Ten stadium. Michigan State's 11-game road Big Ten winning streak, dating back to 2012, is the longest in school history, besting the previous record of eight straight set in 1965-67 and 1988-90. It's also the third-longest active conference road winning streak in the FBS (Ohio State: 13; Florida State: 13).
Michigan State has won 19 of its last 20 games against Big Ten opponents, including 16 wins by double-figures. It equals the best 20-game stretch in school history against Big Ten opponents (19-1 stretch from 1964-67).
The Spartans have scored 24-plus points in 21 straight games, which is tied for the longest active streak in the FBS, along with Baylor.
MSU has won 59 of its last 73 games, dating back to the beginning of the 2010 season. In addition, the Spartans have won 32 of their last 35 games, dating back to the 2012 regular-season finale. MSU has won 30 games since the beginning of 2013 (30-3 record), third most in the FBS during that period.
MSU has won six consecutive games in contests decided by a touchdown or less.
