Andrew Herr Named to Academic All-District Team

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer junior Andrew Herr earned Academic All-District Team honors on Thursday, Oct. 29. Herr was recognized as a part of NCAA Division I District 5 by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Millersville, Pennsylvania, native owns a 3.98 GPA in human biology. This is the first Academic All-District honor for Herr. He follows in the footsteps of midfielder Ryan Keener who earned first-team Academic All-America honors last season.
"First and foremost, I am happy for Andrew and his family. He is the epitome of a student-athlete. He is studying on the bus. He puts his full effort into soccer and comes back and puts his full effort into the academic side of things. So, he is definitely continuing to carry on the tradition, we have had some exceptional student-athletes at Michigan State," MSU head coach Damon Rensing said.
This season, Herr has started 15 of the Spartan's 16 games. He has two assists in over 1,200 minutes of action. For his Spartan career, Herr has played in 61 games, starting 60. He has three assists for three points.
He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore. Herr was also named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar as a redshirt-freshman.
First-team Academic All-District® soccer honorees advance to the Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Herr and the Spartans will face in-state rival Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. live on the Big Ten Network.
