Troop Named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rookie pitcher Alex Troop has been named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Troop earned his first collegiate win on Saturday in a 5-0 win over UMBC, pitching six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits to go along with three strikeouts in his first start in the Green and White. Troop owns a 0.77 ERA in four appearances this season, giving up one run in 11.2 innings of work.
The honor is the first of Troop's career and it's the first time this season a Spartan has garnered a weekly conference award.
The Spartans are currently in the midst of their eight-game spring trip, which will continue on Wednesday when they take on Clemson at 7 p.m. ET in Greenville, S.C.
