Spartans to Compete in Bryan National Collegiate This Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team will head to the Bryan National Collegiate this weekend (Friday-Sunday, April 3-5) in Greensboro, North Carolina. The competitive 18-team tournament, which is being held at the par 72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Champions Course, features 11 teams in the Golfstat Top 50.
MSU is coming off its lowest-scoring tournament of the season as it tied for sixth place at the Briar's Creek Invitational on March 23-24 in Johns Island, South Carolina, with an 896. The Spartans closed the tournament with a 2-over-par 290, their lowest single-round of the season, as Lindsey McPherson and Sarah Burnham each shot even par (72) and Gabby Yurik and Katie Sharp carded 73s.
McPherson, who owns a 76.76 scoring average, will start in the No. 1 position after tying for 30th place overall at the Briar's Creek Invitational with an 8-over 224, her second-lowest 54-hole score of the season. Burnham, who also finished at 8-over 224 at Briar's Creek, is in the second position. Her average of 76.57 is second-lowest on the team.
Yurik continues to lead the team with a 75.86 scoring average following the Briar's Creek Invitational. Her total of 9-over 225 at Briar's Creek marked a career low for the junior.
Sharp and Alison Knowles round out the starting lineup for the Spartans.
Wake Forest and UNC-Greensboro are co-hosting this weekend's tournament.
Live scoring of the entire three-day, 54-hole tournament will be available at golfstat.com. The Spartans will tee off on Friday at 9:05 a.m. on hole 10, along with Florida and Louisville.
