EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll claimed the GAM (Golf Association of Michigan) Women's Mid-Amateur title for a record-setting eighth time on Monday at the West Shore Golf & Country Club in Grosse Ile.
Slobodnik-Stoll won the championship on the first sudden-death playoff hole with a birdie on the par 5 17th, draining a 15-footer to defeat Ashely Crain.
After Sunday's first round was cancelled due to rain, Slobodnik-Stoll and Crain each shot a 4-over-par 75 over 18 holes on Monday to set the stage for a playoff.
Slobodnik-Stoll has now won eight of the 17 GAM Women's Mid-Amateur titles, an event which is limited to amateur golfers 25 years and older. Overall, it's her 15th title in GAM tournaments. Slobodnik-Stoll won the GAM Women's Mid-Amateur six years in a row from 2005-10 and also took first in 2012.
