EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore pitcher Keegan Baar has been named to the Academic All-District 5 First Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Baar is a sophomore with a 3.9 GPA majoring in Business. The Jenison, Michigan, native is 1-2 with a 2.43 ERA this season. Baar has allowed eight earned runs in 29.2 innings with 15 strikeouts.
The Academic All-DistrictTM teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Only first teams were chosen for both the baseball and softball district teams, so all honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The lefty is one of five Big Ten honorees and is Michigan State baseball's first Academic All-District selection since Brandon Eckerle in 2011.
