EAST LANSING, Mich. -Michigan State midfielder Kendal Anderson has been named Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week. Anderson tallied 10 points last weekend, including a first-half hat trick against Central Michigan and now leads the Big Ten in points (18) and goals (7) while tied for the league lead in assists (4). The redshirt junior was also named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her efforts.
Anderson became the 20th Spartan in school history to record a hat trick and the redshirt junior has already surpassed her career highs in all scoring categories. Anderson scored her Big Ten-leading seventh goal in a win over Quinnipiac on Sunday and recorded an assist in both games to help lead MSU to a 2-0 record for the weekend.
The Longstreth/NFHCA are handing out national weekly awards for the first time this season, making Anderson the first Spartan honoree. Syracuse's Lies Lagerwiej earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Michigan State returns to action on Friday vs. Columbia at 3 p.m. before hosting Louisville on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
