White Tops Green in Hockey Exhibition

EAST LANSING, Mich.– The Michigan State hockey team held its annual Green-White exhibition scrimmage on Wednesday evening at Munn Ice Arena with the White team coming away with the victory, 2-0, in the modified, two-period format.
"I thought we were able to put them in a lot of situations," head coach Danton Cole said. "The other good part is a lot of the things that we've been teaching and talking about, we'll have some video so we can reinforce some things and show them what they did well and what we want them to do a little bit better. We get a lot out of that, it's a good gameday walk through."
Freshman Wojciech Stachowiak scored 38 seconds into the first period for the White team.
The first period concluded with a shootout, won by the White team on a goal by Logan Lambdin.
The second period featured alternating odd-man situations for both teams and five minutes of 3-on-3 play. Zach Osburn scored on the power play to give White a 2-0 lead.
Following the scrimmage, the Spartans held a meet-and-greet on the ice.
The Spartans will host the University of Windsor in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Munn Ice Arena. The regular season will begin on Oct. 12-13 as the Spartans host Northern Michigan for a two-game series.
