
Hirose, Khodorenko and Lewandowski Named to B1G Preseason Watch List

EAST LANSING --Â Taro Hirose, Patrick Khodorenko and Mitchell Lewandowski were all named to the Big Ten's 2018-19 Preseason Watch List, it was announced by the league on Monday, Sept. 24. Hirose was one of six unanimous selections on the 15-player list that was voted on by the conference head coaches.

Hirose, a junior, was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree last season as he recorded the most points (42) by a Spartan since 2009-10 and most assists (30) by a Spartan since 2004-05. He finished the regular season second in the Big ten in both points and assists.

Lewandowski was the 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. His team-leading 19 goals tied for the most in the Big Ten during the regular season and he ended the year first in the nation among all rookies in goals and fourth in points (34) among freshmen.

Khodorenko was second on the team in goals (13) and assists (19) and third in points (32). The led MSU in shots on goal (101) and was voted the Spartans' most improved player last season.
The trio, which played together all season, combined for over 40% of the Spartans' total points last season in forming one of college hockey's most potent scoring threats.Â

MSU was one of three teams with three players on the league's preseason watch list.
