Meet the Spartans: Austin Franco

EAST LANSING, Mich. --

Michigan State wrestling will feature a newcomer weekly throughout the preseason in order to "Meet the Spartans" leading up to the 2018-19 season.

This week, freshman Austin Franco (Dowagiac, Michigan / Niles High School) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions.

1. Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
I grew up a Michigan State wrestling fan and liked the new coaching staff

2. What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
Competing in open events

3. When did you first start wrestling?
I started wrestling at 10 years old

4. Favorite wrestling memory?
Winning a state title

5. What's your major at Michigan State and why?
Human Resources, I want the ability to make my own workforce and work environment

6. Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
Jim Rhoads

7. What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
Ability to fly

8. Favorite meal?
Spaghetti

9. Favorite TV show?
Shameless

10. Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
Hangout with family and friends
