EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State swimming and diving teams beat Oakland today in their final road meet of the season. The men defeated the Golden Grizzlies 164-136 and the women won 180.5-114.5, racking up a total of 21 first-place finishes.
"We really did well, both our men and women won," head coach Matt Gianiodis said. "Our winners were led by Marie Dickson. She won three events which was unbelievable, but they were more than just that, they were really great performances across the board. Our men were led by Scott Piper, he won three events and did a great job. I'm really happy and we just have to see if we can sustain it for another month and a half."
Dickson took the top slot in the 1000 freestyle, (10:30.17), 200 butterfly, (2:07.97), and 500 freestyle, (5:10.34).
With another great performance, Piper placed first in the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke and 200 IM. He recorded times of 1:50.87, 1:50.09, and 1:52.20, respectively.
Aidan Farley took first-place in the 200 and 500 freestyle with times of 1:39.01 and 4:34.39, respectively.
