EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State swimming and diving teams will host the Fighting Irish on Saturday, Feb. 2. The meet will begin at 12 p.m. in the IM West Indoor Pool.
"Notre Dame is a really good team. Both the men's and women's teams are really well put together," head coach Matt Gianiodis said. "Their coach, Michael Litzinger, I've known for 30 years and he really knows how to get things done."
The Spartans just came off a tough road battle against the Oakland Golden Grizzles. Strong leadership was shown from a variety of swimmers as both the Spartan men and women brought home a win.
Marie Dickson finished with three event victories starting with the 100 freestyle, followed by the 200 butterfly and the 500 freestyle.
Also claiming three first-place finishes was Scott Piper who ran away with the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM.
Both the 100 and 200 breaststroke were won by the Spartans. For the men, Jonathan Lee took the victory and for the women Ana Sortland.Â
"I expect our team to really, really have a good test this weekend," Gianiodis said.
