Spartans Add Four Wins in Day Two of WMU Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State men's tennis team picked up four wins in day two action of the Western Michigan Invite in Kalamazoo.
Freshman Kazuki Matsuno picked up two singles wins for the Spartans, while fellow freshman Jarreau Campbell earned a singles and doubles win with Drew Keene.
"The Spartans went 4-3 overall today! We are grooving and improving! Looking to find another level tomorrow to close out the tournament," said head coach Gene Orlando.
A native of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Matsuno collected singles wins over Luiz Dos Santos of UIC (6-2, 3-6, 1-0(7) and Conor Somers of Notre Dame, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(7). Campbell grabbed his third win in two days after knocking off Arjun Honnappa of Western Michigan, 6-4, 7-5.
Drew Keene fell in two match tiebreakers, to Rodrigo Crespo of Western Michigan, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(6) and
Johan Hedstrom of UIC, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(4). Campbell fell to Johnathan Small in a match tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (3).
Action at the Western Michigan Invite resumes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Sorensen Courts in Kalamazoo.
