Women's Tennis Closes Out Fall Season at Louisville Tennis Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Michigan State women's tennis concluded the fall season at the Louisville Tennis Classic on Sunday, Nov. 3.
The Spartans were joined by Louisville, Marquette and Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC).
Michigan State went 6-6 in doubles play overall and 13-5 in singles play throughout the tournament.
On the first day of the tournament, the Spartans opened up play with a 2-1 doubles win over Marquette and then fell 2-1 in doubles to Louisville. All three doubles duos split the opening day of play.
Michigan State downed UTC, 6-0, in singles play, with all six Spartans rallying to victories. Notably, at the No. 3 spot, sophomore Jennifer Timotin defeated Caroline Billman of UTC in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-0.
On Saturday, the Spartans swept doubles play with UTC in the morning, before dropping the three doubles matches against Marquette in the afternoon. Also, MSU went to a 3-3 tie in singles with Louisville, with Lewis, Timotin and Zdrubecka defeating their opponents.
On the last day of play, MSU rallied to defeat Marquette in singles, 4-2, with Lewis, Stephens, Pietrowicz and Timotin all notching wins to close the fall season.
Michigan State faces tournament attendee Marquette during the spring season on Saturday, Feb. 1 on the road.
