EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Despite a 14-6 lead following the 165-pound bout, the Michigan State wrestling team was unable to complete the upset of No. 20-ranked Purdue on Sunday, February 17. The Spartans dropped each of the last four matches of the afternoon to fall to the Boilermakers, 18-14.
With a loss, the Spartans record drops to 9-8 overall and their Big Ten dual record finishes at 3-6. Purdue is now 7-9 overall and will also finish 3-6 in the conference.
No. 7-ranked 125-pounder Rayvon Foley tallied early bonus points for Michigan State, defeating Marshall Craig V by tech fall (18-2) to open the dual. Foley's sophomore season record improved to 29-2 overall and 16-1 in duals following his win on Sunday.

At 141 pounds, Nate Limmez led redshirt senior Austin Eicher, 5-1 heading into the third period. Eicher scored a reversal at the start of the period and a takedown later on, but an escape by Limmex gave him a 6-5 advantage at the final buzzer.
The Spartans were on the winning end of a one-point bout at 149 pounds as redshirt freshman Jaden Enriquez scored a takedown on Parker Filius with 30 seconds remaining in the third period to seal victory.
