Round One
No. 7 Jacobe Smith (Oklahoma State) dec. No. 26 Drew Hughes, 6-4 (SV-1)
Hughes gave up an early takedown to Smith in the first period and escaped, but was taken down again after a scramble. Smith opted for the bottom position to start the second period as Hughes began to shave off the riding time that Smith accumulated in the first. With his choice in the third, Hughes took the top position that he's had so much success in throughout his career. Hughes locked up the riding time in the third as Smith was warned for stalling. With less than a minute remaining in the third, Hughes was able to get to a two-point near fall to effectively tie the match at 4-4 thanks to the riding time point. In sudden victory however, it was Smith who got in on the leg of Hughes to take the 6-4 decision.
Consolation Round One
No. 23 Daniel Bullard (NC State) dec. No. 26 Drew Hughes, 2-1

Round One
No. 19 Cameron Caffey dec. No. 14 Dylan Wisman (Missouri), 7-5
Caffey shot first, but it was stuffed by Wisman. Wisman locked in a cradle against Caffey, but was unable to get the Spartan off his base so no takedown was awarded midway through the first. In the closing moments of the first, Wisman was able to score the bouts first points with a takedown. Caffey started the second period on top before ceding an escape to Wisman, who led 3-0. In the final seconds of the second, Caffey executed a trip to secure his first takedown of the match. After two cautions on top to Wisman, Caffey escaped to open the third, drawing the match even at 3-3. Limbs of both wrestlers were tangled heading towards the edge of the mat, but it was Wisman who finished the takedown to lead Caffey 5-3. Caffey was awarded a point after Wisman's third false start on top and an escape by Caffey tied the match at 5-5 with less than a minute left. Caffey looked to earn a takedown in the final 20 seconds of the bout, but Missouri wanted the officials to take a second look. The review stood in favor of Caffey who rode Wisman out for the remainder of the match to win 7-5.
Round Two

Zavatsky escaped Caffey's grasp and took him down to lead 8-4 with a minute remaining in the bout.
