MSU was nine shots ahead of the third-place team, Maryland, which was 26-over-par 890.
"Today was pretty disappointing," MSU head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said. "We Led most of the day, then we were even and then made some mistakes in the end. But, it's better (to make those mistakes) now than in the next couple weeks."
Sydney Naro led the way for the Spartans all weekend and wound up finishing the tournament tied for fourth place at 3-over-par 219 (67-77-75). Naro had the lowest round of the tournament on Saturday as she opened with a 5-under-par 67. On Sunday, Naro carded a 3-over-par 75, recording nine consecutive pars at one point.
Yurika Tanida's scores deceased by round all weekend and she ended by posting the lowest round of the day by a Spartan on Sunday with a 1-under-par 71. She got her third top-10 finish of the season by tying for sixth place at 4-over-par 220 (76-73-71).
Haylin Harris gave the Spartans three players in the top 20 as she tied for 18th place. She finished the tournament 9-over-par 225 (70-76-79).
Slobodnik-Stoll was pleased with the contributions from freshmen Naro and Harris on the weekend.
"I told both Sydney and Haylin that shooting a 67 and 70, respectively, in the opening round on this course is something you'll remember for a long time," Slobodnik-Stoll said. "Sydney eagled No. 4 yesterday and that put her in a good frame of mind for the rest of the tournament. She played really well."
The performances of Naro, Harris and Tanida further bolster the Spartan lineup heading into next weekend's Big Ten Championships.
"I think it's great," Slobodnik-Stoll said. "The big thing with our team is the depth. Our players know what they're capable of and know what's expected of them. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can have everyone going on all cylinders."
Allyson Geer-Park (75-74-78) and Valery Plata (80-72-75) both tied for 23rd place at 11-over-par 227.
Paz Marfa Sans was 18-over-par 234 (81-75-78), tied for 45th place.
Pilar Echeverria of Indianapolis won the tournament at 1-under-par 215.
The 2019 Big Ten Championships take place April 19-21 at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio.
