
Spartan Hockey Signs Two For 2019-20

EAST LANSING – Michigan State hockey head coach Danton Cole announced on Tuesday (April 2) the first phase of its recruiting class for the 2019-20 season. Both Nicolas Müller (Arisdorf, Switzerland/Modo Hockey) and Josh Nodler (Oak Park, Mich./Fargo Force) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Spartans for next season.
"Both of these young men fit well into what we are building here at Spartan Hockey, and will be a big part of our program moving forward next season," Cole said. "We will be adding one or two more recruits to complete this class."

Nicolas Müller
Arisdorf, Switzerland | Modo Hockey (Sweden J20 SuperElit) | 6-0, 170 | DOB: 6/21/1999
Danton Cole on Nicolas Müller: "Nicolas brings a tremendous amount of experience and skill to MSU. He was an integral part of Switzerland's success last year at the U20 World Junior Championships. He has also been a leader on his teams both for Switzerland, internationally, and in Sweden for his junior team. We look for him to step in and be an impact player his freshman year."
Represented Switzerland at both the 2018 and 2019 IIFH World Junior Championships … Recorded five assists in seven games in playing on the top line to help the Swiss advance to the medal round and take fourth place at the 2019 WJC … Had two goals in five games at the 2018 WJC … Has played the last two-plus seasons with Modo Hockey in Sweden's J20 SuperElit league … Served as team captain and averaged nearly a point per game for Modo in 2018-19 with 40 points (13g, 27a) in 42 regular-season games, while adding seven points (2g, 5a) in five playoff games … Had 30 points (14g, 16a) in 34 games for Modo in 2017-18 … Played 24 games for Modo in the J18 in 2016-17 before moving to the SuperElit where he appeared in 22 games, picking up four points … First played in Sweden in 2015-16 for Modo J18 … Has significant international experience, playing for Switzerland at the 2017 U18 World Championships, 2017 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the 2017 World Jr A challenge … Starred in his home country for both Basel and ZSC prior to playing in Sweden … Put up 28 points (11g, 17a) in 30 games for ZSC U-17 in 2014-15.

His 200-foot game is going to make us a much deeper team at center. Josh has always been a great leader both on and off the ice and he will fit in well with our culture."
Ranked as the No. 75 North American skater by NHL Central Scouting for the upcoming 2019 NHL Draft … Selected to play in the 2019 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game … Is currently in his rookie season with the Fargo Force of the USHL where he ranks third on the team with 42 points in 51 games … His 17 goals are fourth best on the team and his 25 assists are third most … Helped the U.S. to gold at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge … Led the U.S. Under-18 Men's Select Team at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, with seven points (1g, 6a) … Skated on the 2017 U.S. Under-17 Men's Select Team that won first place at the Five Nations Tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic, recording five points (2g, 3a) in four games … Put up 22 points (8g, 14a) in 18 games for Honeybaked U16 in 2017-18, and also appeared in four games with the NTDP U-17s and two with Fargo that season … Played four seasons for Honeybaked.
