Ebonee Echols Named NFCA All-Region

Senior Ebonee Echols (Newnan, Ga.) has been named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), as announced on Thursday.Â

The selection of Echols makes it four straight seasons that the Spartans have had at least one All-Region selection, with Echols being the sixth student-athlete honored in that time frame.  Â

Echols hit .352 as a senior, which was second on the team behind her sister, Charla (.359). Echols started 45 of 46 games, tallying 44 base hits (11 doubles, two triples, an six homers) while boasting a .616 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage, which ranked 15th in the Big Ten. She also tallied three sac flies (fourth, B1G) and six stolen bases.

Echols left her mark on the Spartan and Big Ten career record book as well. Echols' 25 career triples makes her not only MSU's all-time leader, but also the career record holder in the Big Ten. She twice smacked two triples in a game (vs. Penn State, April 9, 2017 and at Maryland, April 8, 2016), making her MSU's single-game recordholder as well.Â

 She leaves MSU with top-ten career rankings in runs scored (136, third), RBI (127, fourth), stolen bases (41, seventh), walks (71, ninth), base hits (198, ninth), and batting average (.325, tenth.)Â
