No. 7 MSU Men’s Soccer Closes Out Preseason At Xavier Friday

This is the final exhibition of the season for the Spartans.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - In the final of three exhibitions, No. 7 Michigan State men's soccer will travel to Xavier on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.
The Spartans tied their first exhibition against UIC on Aug. 18 0-0. On Aug. 20, Michigan State faced Butler, but the game was abandoned due to lighting in the area. The game was tied 0-0 with 11 minutes left in the first half.
Michigan State opens the 2019 campaign hosting, SIUE on Friday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. The Cougars are led by first-year head coach Cale Wassermann, who was an assistant coach at MSU. The teams are familiar, meeting in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament in East Lansing. The Cougars advanced on penalty kicks.
This season, the Spartans will face five teams ranked in the preseason top 25, including non-conference opponents Akron (No. 3) and Notre Dame (No. 9). The Spartans will host No. 9 Notre Dame under the lights on Sept. 24 and will take on No. 3 Akron on the road on Oct. 15 in a re-match of the NCAA National Semifinal game.
