No. 24 Michigan State Falls at No. 8 Iowa, 5-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State field hockey team fell to No. 8 Iowa, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Grant Field.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Arundell finished with 12 saves for the Spartans, while freshman Nienke Bloemsaat and sophomore Aisha Osinga added two shots.Â
In a game that seen constant rain throughout, the Hawkeyes got on the board early and never looked back. Ellie Holley added a goal at the fifth minute to put Iowa up early, 1-0.Â
Arundell, who collected a career-high 14 saves against Northwestern on Sept. 27, collected some impressive early saves, ending with seven at the half. Juniors Lia Sinisi and Meredith Ross each collected a shot on goal for the Spartans in the first half.Â
Iowa added its second goal of the day off a penalty corner from Lokke Stribos, assisted by Katie Birch at the 22nd minute. With just under 30 seconds to play in the half, Holley tallied her second goal of the half on a turnaround shot from the side of the cage.
The No. 8-ranked Hawkeyes added two more goals in the third quarter, less than two minutes apart. Ciara Smith recorded an assist on a goal from Ciara Smith on the baseline at the 38th minute and Holley added her third of the day at the 39th minute to go up 5-0.Â
MSU finished with seven shots, while Iowa added 32. The Spartans tallied three penalty corners to Iowa's five. Arundell combined for 12 saves on the afternoon, moving her total to 26 over the last two games and 78 on the season.

MSU returns to action in seven days when they travel to Ann Arbor to take on No. 9 Michigan at Ocker Field. Game time is slated for 4 p.m .
