
Four Spartans Voted to Preseason All-Big Ten Teams

EAST LANSING – The Big Ten released its Preseason All-Big Ten teams on Monday, which included four Spartans. Junior forward Mitchell Lewandowski and sophomore defenseman Dennis Cesana were both voted by the league's coaches to the second team, while senior forward Patrick Khodorenko and senior defenseman Jerad Rosburg earned honorable mention.
Lewandowski was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection last season as he ranked 11th in the conference in points (34) and tied for seventh in the league in goals (16). His 13 goals in Big Ten play tied for best in the conference. The native of Clarkson led MSU with four game-winning goals and is the team's active career leader win game-winners with nine.
Cesana led all conference rookies in assists (21) and was second in points (24) last season as he was voted to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. His 21 helpers were sixth most among all freshmen nationally and second best among defensemen. Cesana, who is from Providence, Rhode Island, was the only Spartan rookie to play in all 36 games last season.
Khodorenko was selected to the All-Big Ten second team last season as he tied for fourth in the league in goals (18) and was eighth in points (37). His 12 goals in league play were second only to Lewandowski, while his 29 points against conference opponents were third best. The two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree enters 2019-20 as the team's active career leader in points with 87.
Rosburg was the winner of the Spartans' Outstanding Defensive Player Award last season. He tied a career high with 16 assists, which included four goals and 12 assists. Rosburg is the most experienced defenseman on this year's roster with 105 career games played.
Michigan State will host Western Ontario on Monday, Oct. 7 in an exhibition game at Munn Ice Arena that will be free to all fans. The regular season begins Oct. 11-12 when the Spartans travel to Northern Michigan.
