EAST LANSING – Former Spartan standout Ally Geer is ready to compete in the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup. Following a summer postponement, the event is now set to get going this week, Dec. 21-23, at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club and Lodge.
"It's an honor to be selected for this year's team, not only to represent the U.S., but also Arnold Palmer's legacy," Geer said. "He embodied everything a golfer should strive to be and I just can't wait to play alongside some of the best players in the world."

The Ryder Cup-style tournament features the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States (12 men, 12 women) against a team of international players (12 men, 12 women). Geer was one of six players to garner an automatic qualifier to the 12-woman US Team.
Originally scheduled to be played July 3-5 at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland, the event was moved to December to Mr. Palmer's winter home, the Bay Hill Club & Lodge. The inaugural Arnold Palmer Cup was staged there in 1997 and Bay Hill will be the first venue to host the matches twice.
Geer, who graduated this past May, has the best career average in Michigan State history at 72.81. She owns three of the top seven single-season averages in program history, including her 2019-20 average of 72.39, which ranks fourth all-time.
The native of Brighton, who played in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019, has nine career top-five finishes, including two individual titles (2019 Briar's Creek Invitational; 2018 Mary Fossum Invitational). Geer recorded 17 rounds in the 60s over her four seasons in the Green and White, including a 66 at the 2019 Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, which helped the Spartans to the team title.
