Former Spartan Men’s Golf Coach Ken Horvath Passes Away

AST LANSING – Former Michigan State men's golf coach Ken Horvath has passed away. He was 62.
Horvath coached the Spartans from 1990-97. During his tenure, he helped mentor Heath Fell, a three-time All-Big Ten honoree and the 1993 Big Ten Player of the Year.
In 1992-93, he led the Spartans to six top-five finishes. The year prior in 1991-92, he led the Spartans to three tournament wins as well as a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and a trip to the NCAA Central Regional.
Horvath was hired in 1984 to run the Forest Akers Golf Courses at MSU and served as general manager for 24 years. In 2008 Ken joined the RHS Division at MSU, during which he partnered with the College of Human Medicine to help build the Secchia Center in Grand Rapids.
