Field Hockey Reveals 2021 Recruiting Class

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State field hockey head coach Helen Knull announced the Spartans' 2021 signing class, which includes Madeline Lawlor (Hammonton, N.J./Seneca) and Jillian Bonczewski (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West).
"We would like to welcome Maddie and Jillian to the Spartan Family," Knull said. "They may be a small class of only two new faces but they are going to add speed, work ethic and depth to our roster."
Madeline Lawlor (Hammonton, N.J./Seneca)
A four-year letterwinner at Seneca High School, where she played field hockey and golf … A 2019 first team all-conference selection and a second team selectin as a freshman and sophomore (2017, 2018) … Captained field hockey team in 2019 … Helped lead field hockey team to Group 2 Championship in three-straight years (2017-19) … Member of the Spirit of USA NIT (National Indoor Tournament) Champions in 2017 and 2018 … U19 National Futures Championship selection in 2019 … Member of the Spirit of USA from 2017-20 … Played four years of varsity golf and was a first team all-conference selection in 2019.

"I chose Michigan State because as soon as I stepped on campus I felt right at home, and that it was the right place for me. There is a really strong family atmosphere that I fell in love with whenever I have visited."
Jillian Bonczewski (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West)
A four-year letterwinner in field hockey who also participated in track & field throughout high school … A first team all-state selection as a junior in 2019 and a second team all-state selection in 2018 … Team captain in 2020 … A Citizens Voice All-Star selection and Times Leader All-Star pick in 2019 … MaxPrep Players to Watch in 2019 … Helped lead Wyoming Valley West to 2019 PIAA Class 2A State Championship and to the 2017 PIAA Class 2A silver medal … Team reached the 2018 Final Four … District champions from 2017-20 … Easter Shooting Star Pool Winner in 2019 … Summer Shooting Star Pool winner in 2020 … Second place in the Keystone Games in 2018 … Qualified for NIT's with Electric Surge from 2017-19.
