Geer-Park Named to Arnold Palmer Cup US Team

EAST LANSING – Michigan State senior Allyson Geer-Park has been named to the United States Team for the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup, it was announced on Friday, March 27. Geer-Park was one of six players to garner an automatic qualifier to the 12-woman US Team.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is slated for July 3-5 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland, however it is subject to postponement or cancelation due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting so many lives around the globe. The Ryder Cup-style tournament features the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States (12 men, 12 women) against a team of international players (12 men, 12 women).
Geer-Park has the best career average in Michigan State history at 72.81. She owns three of the top seven single-season averages in program history, including her 2019-20 average of 72.39, which ranks fourth all-time.
The native of Brighton has nine career top-five finishes, including two individual titles (2019 Briar's Creek Invitational; 2018 Mary Fossum Invitational). Geer-Park recorded 17 rounds in the 60s over her four seasons in the Green and White, including a 66 at this year's Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, which helped the Spartans to the team title.
Geer-Park has the lowest 54-hole tournament total in program history at 203, which she set on her way to winning medalist honors at the 2019 Briar's Creek Invitational.
Geer-Park played in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019 and is scheduled to compete again in the event in 2020, which is currently postponed.
The Arnold Palmer Cup United States team is led by returners from last year's team in Emilia Migliaccio (Wake Forest), Kaitlyn Papp (Texas), John Augenstein (Vanderbilt), and Quade Cummins (Oklahoma). Men's Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking selections include Augenstein, Garett Reband (Oklahoma), Cooper Dossey (Baylor), Cummins, Evan Katz (Duke), and William Mouw (Pepperdine). Women's ranking selections include, Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest), Kenzie Wright (Alabama), Julia Johnson (Ole Miss), Addie Baggarly (Florida), Latanna Stone (LSU), and Geer-Park (Michigan State).
Joining Ricky Castillo (Florida) Migliaccio, Kaitlin Milligan (Oklahoma), John Pak (Florida State), Papp, and Davis Thompson (Georgia), who were selected on March 4, will be Pierceson Coody (Texas), Jaime Jacob (San Marcos State), Gina Kim (Duke), and Zach Zediker (Delta State) as Team USA committee selections.
