Throughout the spring, we're going to take the opportunity to bring you a quick Q&A session with each of our players. We'll continue with junior outfielder Katie Quinlan.
Also - head to our instagram page (MichStSB) to see our players' "Stay Home, Stay Safe" playlists - we all need a little musical inspriation these days!
What is something unique about your hometown? I live in Granger, Indiana – and I live/back up to the Michigan border. My front yard is in Indiana, my backyard is in Michigan.
Sports I played growing up other than softball: Gymnastics, Track
My favorite sport to watch: Gymnastics
My favorite softball memory: The state championship my junior year of high school. Although we didn’t end up winning it…the experience will be one of my all-time favorites.
What was your favorite subject when you were growing up? Math

What is your major at MSU? My major is Creative Advertising and Graphic Design. I’ve always loved art and fell in love with graphic design my sophomore year of high school.
Do you have a nickname? Everyone calls me “Q”
Who has been the most important or influential person in your life?My sister Emily. She’s my biggest role model and best friend. She is recently married, is an ICU pediatrics nurse at the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. One of the hardest working, selfless, caring people I know.
What is your favorite Big Ten city to visit? What has been your favorite non-conference road trip in your MSU career? I thought Penn State had a pretty cool campus and downtown. For non-conference, we played at Cal State- Fullerton my freshman year for spring break and the trip in Cali for the week was one of my favorites. We took Duffy boats on Newport Beach and did an escape room as a team and a bunch of other things.
If you had one family member to spend a week with on an all-expenses paid vacation, who would it be? Where would you go? My dad, we would go to the Maldives (actually, would love to go there someday with a new husband for my honeymoon!). I would want to live on one of the houses that is half in the water, half on ground and you have to take a golf cart pretty much everywhere. It’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
Your teammates are inspirational people in their own right. Tell me about a teammate (current or former) that has inspired you? Lea Forester has been one of my biggest inspirations since stepping on this campus. She was a senior when I was a freshman. Also, an outfielder with me. Her strive and persistence as an athlete and as a person is something so unique and something you really don’t see a lot of people having now-a-days. She really took me under her wing freshman year and I’ll forever be grateful for her.
