
MSU Track & Field’s Mammel Named Big Ten Field Co-Athlete of the Week

The junior set a personal best in her first meet of the season.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior track & field athlete Rebecca Mammel was named Co-Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week.
Mammel, a native of Tecumesh, Michigan, earned her first-ever Big Ten honor after her strong performance at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Jan. 16. In the first meet of the season, she threw a personal best with a heave of 22.19m with the weight throw.
She is the first Spartan to earn Big Ten Indoor honors since Jeralyn Poe was named Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 22, 2020.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
