New Spartan starters Crooms and Smith scored the first five points of the game, as MSU jumped out to an early 11-4 start. Despite the cold-spell on the offensive side, Michigan State still led after the first 10 minutes, 17-16.
Five-straight points from Parks in the second quarter put Michigan State back up by five, 25-20 with eight minutes left in the half.
