Michigan State Falls, 55-54, as Purdue Hits Late Shot

East Lansing, Mich. – No. 23 Michigan State took a 15-point lead at halftime and led by four points in the final minute, but Purdue's Trevion Williams hit a jumper with four seconds left, as the Boilermakers came back for a 55-54 win at the Breslin Center in a Big Ten men's basketball game Friday night.
Junior forward Aaron Henry (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, had two blocks and two assists to lead the Spartans. Graduate student Joshua Langford (Huntsville, Ala./Madison Academy) finished with 10 points and four rebounds, while redshirt junior forward Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wisc./Stevens Point) had nine points and four rebounds and sophomore guard Rocket Watts (Detroit, Mich./SPIRE Academy [Ohio]) added seven points and three rebounds.

- Michigan State had led by as many as 17 points (33-16) in the second half, but Purdue pulled to within a point, 51-50, when Trevion Williams, who scored 24 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, hit two free throws with 1:21 left.
- The Spartans appeared to have the game in hand after Henry hit a jumper with 1:01 left and then took a 54-40 lead with 19 seconds on the clock on one of two free throws from the junior.
- After Purdue's Eric Hunter Jr. hit a pair of free throws, the Spartans turned the ball over and Williams was fouled nine seconds left. He hit the first shot, but missed the second and there was a scramble for the loose ball.
