The Spartans move to a 9-2-3 record overall this season with a 3-2-2 mark in conference play. Three matches remain in the regular season.
Both teams came off the field scoreless after the first half. Ava Cook kicked off the offensive charge for the Spartans, taking the team's first shot of the match in the 12th minute. The strike was deflected off a pair of Wolverine defenders. Cook and three other members of the Green and White, Danielle Stephan, Lauren DeBeau and Camryn Evans, each had shots credited to them in the first half. Coming off the bench, MJ Andrus had two shots, one taken on goal.

Lauren Kozal had five saves in goal for Michigan State in the first 45, successfully guarding the net against several dangerous shots from the Wolverines. Five Spartans came off the bench to see action in the first frame.
The Wolverines came in hot on offense in the second half, but MSU defense held strong. Sam Sklarski had a clutch sliding save in front of the goal for the Spartans at the 48th minute. Justina Gaynor and Abby Gardiner also had several winning fights for possession in the Michigan State backline.
Ten minutes into the second half, Michigan came up with the first goal of the game for either side. A scramble at the net left space open for Kacey Lawrence to loop a shot into the back left of the goal.
The Spartans had several strong attempts to come up with the equalizer in the next 30 minutes, including two shots on goal by Cook. Justina Gaynor fired off a shot in the 83rd minute that went just wide of the net, followed quickly by a strike from DeBeau.
