Women’s Golf Completes Second Day of Play at Tar Heel Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team fired a 3-under par 285 in Saturday's second round and stands in 11th place among 19 teams at the Tar Heel Invitational, being played at the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Spartans moved up three places from 14th place after Friday's first round.
Wake Forest leads the field at 16-under par 560, while Virginia Tech is in second place at 12-under par 564. Clemson is in third place at 11-under par 565, while Michigan is in fourth place at 6-under par 570 and Vanderbilt, Duke and Alabama are all tied for fifth place at 3-under par 573.

Sophomore Valentina Rossi (Rosario, Argentina) had the best round of the day for the Spartans, firing a 2-under par 70.
Senior Valery Plata (Floridablanca, Colombia/Colegio La Quinta del Puente) and sophomore Leila Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) each posted rounds of 1-under par 71.
Plata and Rossi lead MSU, standing in a tie for 33rd place with scores of 1-over par 145, while Raines is tied for 53rd place at 3-over par 147.
Freshman Brooke Biermann (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) posted a 1-over par 73 in Saturday's second round and is tied for 58th place at 4-over par 148.
Junior Nina Rissi (Barcelona, Spain), who carded an even par 72 on Friday, had a 5-over par 77 in the second round and is tied for 66th place at 5-over par 149.
Senior Haylin Harris (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), playing as an individual, is tied for 11th in the field of 96 golfers at 3-under par 141. She fired a 3-under par 69 on Friday and followed that with an even par 72 on Saturday.
Sunday's final round tees off at 8:30 a.m.
