Spartan Softball Brings Six Aboard For 2023

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State softball coach Jacquie Joseph has announced her signing class, which includes six student-athletes who will enroll at Michigan State in the fall of 2022 to compete beginning in the 2023 spring season.

"Signing day is an important day in our program, and we're excited to add young women of their talents and abilities to our program next fall," said Joseph, who enters her 29^th season this spring. "We have identified them as future Spartans because we fully believe that they can make impacts on our team, our campus community, and in their classrooms during their time on campus. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish as they finish their high school careers."

Of the six signees, four hail from the state of Michigan: Kayla Bane (Chesterfield), Britain Beshears (Novi), Hailey Bila (Laingsburg), and Mandy Esman (Kalamazoo). Sydney Doloszycki comes to East Lansing from St. John, Indiana, and Bibianna Rodriguez will join from Victorville, California.

The Spartans enter the 2022 season with a roster of 20 players, and open the season in Leesburg, Fla. On Feb. 11. The home schedule is slated to begin on March 29, with 14 games to be played at Secchia Stadium. Michigan State will also serve as the host for the 2022 Big Ten Softball tournament May 11-14.

KAYLA BANE Bane

HIGH SCHOOL: Varsity letterwinner since freshman season … Helped Anchor Bay to MAC Red Championships in freshman and junior years … Two-time All-Academic Team selection … All-league, All-Macomb County First Team, all-district and all-region honoree for her junior year … District champions in 2021 … An honor roll student.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Steve and Shalita Bane … Has two brothers, DeShawn Burley and Austin Bane, and one sister, Janay Burley … Plans to major in Pre-Law and aspires to be a sport management lawyer.

5-8, Infielder, R/R                   Novi, Mich./Walled Lake Central       Club: Finesse Fastpitch

CLUB: Played for Finesse under head coach Donny Dreher … Played at the USA Softball Gold National Championships in Salem, Virginia and took home first place … Ranked No. 121 in the Nation by Extra Inning softball … Team ranked No. 20 by Extra Innings.

HIGH SCHOOL: All-district, all-region, first team all-state and Walled Lake Central's Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 … Lakes Valley Scholar-Athlete as a junior … North Farmington and Brighton tournament champions in May 2021 … Was also a varsity swimmer in 2020 … Was a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball, softball) her freshman year, won the Tenth Player award and was an all-conference softball player … Member of Student Council.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Brent and Alpha Beshears … Has one brother, Bowen … Undecided on her major at MSU but aspires to a career that involves helping others … Mother and two cousins also attended Michigan State … Father played baseball at Florida Southern and Ferris State … Cousin, Jay Beshears, currently plays baseball at Northwestern.

HAILEY BILA              Bila

CLUB: Played for Turnin2 under head coach Mike Kish … 18U Alliance Fastpitch Nationals Qualifier … 2020 King of the Hill Co-Champions with the Bandits 18U team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was named first team all-conference, first team all-district, first team all-region and state all-academic her freshman year at Bath … Named to the state all-academic team as a sophomore at Bath … Named to the Lansing Area Dream Team her junior year at Laingsburg … An All-American Scholar Athlete … Earned first team all-conference, all-district, all-region and honorable mention all-state in 2021 … Played volleyball and basketball at Bath as well … Played volleyball and ran track for Laingsburg, earning all-conference honors in high jump and 4x100 … National Honor Society member.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Brian and Lisa Bila … Has a younger sister, Ashley … Plans to major in Kinesiology and aspires to work with athletes providing rehabilitation and physical therapy … Father attended Michigan State (class of 1984).

SYDNEY DOLOSZYCKI

5-5, Infielder, R/R                   Saint John, Ind./Lake Central Club: Beverly Bandits

CLUB: Played for the Beverly Bandits, appearing in tournaments for the Premier 18u Holloway team during the summer of 2021.

HIGH SCHOOL: Helped Lake Central to a 31-2 record, conference championship, sectional championship, regional championship, and an appearance in the IHSAA Class 4A state title game in 2021 … Picked up DAC All-Conference Team honors as a junior.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Steve and Jennifer Doloszycki … Has a younger sister, Addison … Plans to major in Physiology and aspires to a career as an opthamologist.

MANDY ESMAN              Esman

5-8, Infielder/Catcher, L/R Kalamazoo, Mich./Gull Lake Club: Finesse Fastpitch

CLUB: Played for Finesse under head coach Donny Dreher with fellow Spartan signee Britain Beshears … Claimed USA Softball Gold 16U National Championship … Team was ranked the No. 20 team in the country by Extra Innings and was named the No. 48 player in the country.

HIGH SCHOOL: Conference and district champions in 2019, ending season as regional finalists … Earned first team all-conference as a freshman … Named the first team all-district catcher in 2019 … Was part of the Gull Lake conference championship team in 2021 … Named first team all-conference, first team all-region and all-state in 2021 … NFCA High School Third Team All-American and First Team All-North Region selection in 2021 … Member of National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Scott and Dawn Esman … Has an older brother, Austin, and an older sister, Lauren, who plays at Michigan … Mother played volleyball at Central Michigan …. Plans to major in Agribusiness.

BIBIANNA RODRIGUEZ

5-5, Infield, R/R Victorville, Calif./University Prep Club: BSC Bengals

CLUB: Played for BSC Bengals under head coach Ken Briggs … 2018 16U Platinum third-place finish, 2019 14U Platinum top five finish and named to the all-tournament team … 2021 16U Platinum top five finish … Also played for the Ohana Tigers and Firecrackers Brashear.

HIGH SCHOOL: Named Cross Valley League Offensive MVP, All-State Small School and All-CIF Division 5 Team during her junior season in 2021 … Named First Team Cross Valley League and her team's defensive MVP in 2019 … Was also a four-year member of the volleyball team and played basketball … Team captain of the softball team as a junior and senior … Earned All-CVL First Team honors in basketball as a freshman and sophomore … Team captain for basketball as a senior … Maintained GPA above 4.0 every semester of high school.
