TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After falling behind the lead pack midway through the race, graduate student Morgan Beadlescomb recovered and made a late push to take fifth in the men's 10K race at the 2021 NCAA Championships, as the Michigan State men's and women's cross country teams completed their seasons Saturday morning at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
Â
Beadlescomb's performance helped the men place 30th, while senior Jenna Magness took 14th earlier in the women's 6K race to lead the Spartan women to a 16th-place finish. The top-40 finishes earned both Beadlescomb and Magness distinction as NCAA All-Americans, marking the third-straight All-America honor for Beadlescomb and the second-consecutive All-America season for Magness.
Â
In the MSU women's 21st-straight appearance at the NCAAs, Magness posted a personal record time of 19:42.1 in her 14th-place finish, two spots better than her placement at the 2020 NCAA Championships, while graduate student Lynsie Gram finished in 48th with a 20:03.2 PR time. Big Ten Freshman of the Year Kaitlyn Hynes was next at 20:43.8, taking 133rd, while junior Katie Osika was behind her in 146th at 20:46.8.
