Spartans Move Up in AP Poll to 11th, Ranked 13th in USA TODAY/AFCA Coaches Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Following a 30-27 win over Penn State in the regular-season finale at Spartan Stadium, the Michigan State football team moved up one spot to 11th in the latest Associated Press Poll that was released on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans remained 13th in the USA TODAY/AFCA Coaches Poll.
Michigan State improved to 10-2 on the season with the victory over Penn State on Saturday and finished third in the Big Ten East Division with a 7-2 conference record. The seven Big Ten wins are tied for the second most in school history (school-record eight in 2013; seven in 1965, 1966, 1978, 1987, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2017).
The win over PSU also gave MSU its ninth 10th-win season in program history (1965, 1999, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2021). Going from two wins in 2020 to 10 wins in 2021, MSU has already completed the biggest turnaround in school history (previous: seven-game improvement from 2016 to 2017).
