Four in Double Figures as Michigan State Tops No. 5 Illinois, 81-72

East Lansing, Ind. – Michigan State opened up a 10-point lead at halftime, extended its lead to 19 points midway through the second half and beat No. 5 Illinois, 81-72, at the Breslin Center on Tuesday night.
Junior forward Aaron Henry (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) scored 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and had five assists and two blocks and two steals to lead the Spartans, while graduate guard Joshua Langford (Huntsville, Ala./Madison Academy) had 15 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, sophomore guard Rocket Watts (Detroit, Mich./SPIRE Academy [Ohio]); finished with 13 points and five assists and redshirt junior forward Joey Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point) chipped in 13 points, three rebounds.

Michigan State, winners of two-straight games and four of the last six overall, improves to 12-9 overall and 6-9 in the Big Ten, while Illinois falls to 16-6 overall and 12-4 in league play.

- Michigan State led by 10 points, 36-26, at halftime and used a 13-5 run over the first 5:59 of the second half to take a 49-31 lead on a jumper from Henry at the 14:01 mark.
- The Spartans took their biggest lead of the game, 19 points, 56-37, on a jumper from sophomore forward Julius Marble (Dallas, Texas/Dallas Jesuit) with 11:15 to play.
