Spartans Come Up Short to No. 11 Kent State in Dual

OLDSMAR, Florida – No. 11 Kent State topped the 30th-ranked Michigan State golf team in a three-round dual between the teams that concluded on Tuesday at East Lake Woodlands south course in Oldsmar, Florida. Kent State shot a 15-over-par 303 in Tuesday's final round to finish the dual 18-over-par 882 (292-287-303). MSU was 21-over-par 309 on Tuesday and 44-over-par 908 (298-301-309) for the event.
Yurika Tanida led all Spartans as she finished 3-over-par 219 (68-73-78). Tanida tied Kent State's Emily Price for second, while Caley McGinty topped the field with an even-par 216.
Sydney Naro and Leila Raines were both playing as individuals. Naro finished 10-over-par 226 (74-78-74), which was the fifth-best score of the event, while Raines was 12-over-par 228 (76-76-76).
Valery Plata was 13-over-par 229 (77-73-79). She was followed by Paz Marfa Sans at 16-over-par 232 (79-79-74); Valentina Rossi at 18-over-par 234 (78-78-78); and Haylin Harris at 21-over-par 237 (75-77-85).
Michigan State will be back in action March 15-16 at the Briar's Creek Invitational in South Carolina.
