
Spartans in Third After Round One of the NCAA Louisville Regional

SIMPSONVILLE, Kentucky – The Michigan State women's golf team shot a 4-over-par 292 on Monday in the opening round of the NCAA Louisville Regional. The Spartans are in third place, one shot behind second-place UCLA and six strokes behind the leader, Florida State. Host Louisville is in fourth place at 5-over-par 293, while South Carolina is in fifth place after a 7-over-par 295 at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

Yurika Tanida led the Spartans with a 1-under-par 71, putting together her best round since the IU Spring Challenge in early May and is tied for fifth place. Tanida was one of just 10 players in the field to shoot under par on Monday.
Valery Plata made the turn at 1-over-par, but two birdies on the back nine, including one on the 18th hole, pulled her even as she finished with an even-par 72 and is in a tie for 11th place.
Paz Marfa Sans, who is playing in her fourth NCAA Regional, shot a 1-over-par 73 and is tied for 17th place, giving MSU three players in the top-20.
Rookies Valentina Rossi shot a 4-over-par 76 (43rd place), while Leila Raines shot a 5-over-par 77 (54th place).
Florida State's Amelia Williamson and UCLA's Emilie Paltrinieri both shot 4-under-par 68s to lead the field.
Michigan State will be paired with Florida State and UCLA in the final group for Tuesday's second round, and tee off between 9:50 – 10:30 a.m.
