Late Rally by Minnesota Sinks MSU, 3-2

East Lansing, Mich. – [RV] Minnesota earned a series sweep of Michigan State on Sunday thanks to a sixth-inning rally, taking the final contest of the three-game set, 3-2.
MSU (3-9) held a 2-1 lead behind freshman starter Ashley Miller, who went a strong 5 2/3 innings allowing just four base hits and no earned runs. Sarah Ladd came on to get the final out of the sixth after the Gophers turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 advantage. MSU had a pair of errors in the game.
Minnesota junior ace Amber Fiser earned her second save of the series by pitching a 1-2-3 seventh inning after starter Autumn Pease went the first six, limiting the Spartans to a pair of first-inning runs and five hits in the game.
For MSU, Wash had her second extra-base hit of the series, a double which scored MSU's two runs in the first inning.
MSU is idle next week and returns to action with a four-game series vs. Rutgers March 26-28 at Secchia Stadium.

- Caitie Ladd led off the game with a base hit, and one out later Meech reached on an infield single. The runners moved into scoring position on a passed ball, and came around to score on a double down the left field line by Jenae Wash.
- The Gophers got on the board in the fourth inning, when Katie Kemmetmueller walked, went to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and then came home on a groundout.
- Minnesota rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. The Gophers rallied for the two runs with two outs on the scoreboard, as Emily Hansen doubled down the left field line, Natalie DenHartog was intentionally walked, and a fielding error allowed Sydney Strelow to reach and score pinch runner Evans. Kinch doubled to left to score DenHartog to give Minnesota the 3-2 lead.
- MSU had a pair of errors in the game, along with five base hits.
- Meech hit .500 in the series with a double among her four base hits.
- Caitie Ladd hit .400 (four hits, one double) in the weekend series.
