Spartans Host Penn State for Weekend Series

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's field hockey team returns home to Ralph Young Field this weekend, hosting No. 7 Penn State. The Spartans will host the Nittany Lions for the first game on Friday, March 18 (3 p.m.) and close out the weekend on Sunday, March 20 (noon).
Michigan State enters the weekend with a 1-4 overall record and a 1-3 mark in the Big Ten Conference, while Penn State is 2-3 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Both games will be streamed on BTN Plus.
The Spartans and Nittany Lions will play two games this weekend, but only the first game will count toward Big Ten standings. Per rules from the league's coaches, all teams will play two games per weekend against conference opponents, but only the first game will count toward Big Ten standings.
Michigan State lost a pair of games at Rutgers last weekend, first a 2-0 decision last Friday and then a 5-1 loss on Sunday.

Junior midfielder Lia Sinisi (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex, N.J.).leads the team with two assists.
Junior goalkeeper Jade Arundell (County Kildare, Ireland/The Kings Hospital) leads the team with 24 saves and has a 2.62 goals-against average.
Penn State is coming off a weekend split with visiting Maryland. The Nittany Lions shut out the Terrapins 3-0 on Friday and lost 3-2 on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series with Michigan State 33-10. Penn State won the last meeting, a 3-1 win in East Lansing on Oct. 18, 2019.
