Spartans Fall to No. 13 Michigan, 5-2

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State women's tennis team fell to No. 13 Michigan, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Wolverines (11-1, 11-0 Big Ten) started the dual by taking the doubles point and won three of the first six singles matches to clinch the match.
Samantha Memije recorded a big win for MSU at No. 3 singles, taking down Andrea Cerdan in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Cerdan entered the season ranked No. 71 in the ITA rankings.
Nicole Stephens concluded the afternoon with a three-set victory at No. 6 singles over Merri Kelly, 6-0, 2-6, 7-5, to give the Spartans their second win in singles.
Michigan State (4-8, 4-7 Big Ten) returns to action for home matches next weekend against Ohio State on Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m. and Penn State on Sunday, March 28 at 11 a.m.
