
Spartan Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 9 Ohio State and Penn State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis will host of pair of Big Ten dual matches this week, beginning with No. 9 Ohio State on Friday, March 26.
After a loss to Michigan last week, the Spartans are now 4-8 overall and 4-7 in Big Ten action. Ohio State stands 13-3 overall this year and 10-1 in league contests.
The Spartans look to get back on track after a pair of losses to Rutgers, 4-3, and No. 13 Michigan, 5-2.
Freshman Ayshe Can leads the Spartans with an 8-4 record, including a 4-0 record at No. 6 singles. Junior Lauren Lemonds is 7-5 in singles play with a 6-0 record at No. 3 and No. 4 singles combined.
Ohio State leads the overall series against Michigan State 34-14 with wins in the last five matches. Earlier this season in Columbus, the Buckeyes defeated the Spartans, 6-1, on Feb. 26. In the earlier meeting, Lemonds was the lone Spartan to earn a point with a 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) win.
After taking on the Buckeyes, the Spartans will take on Penn State on Sunday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the MSU Indoor Facility.
The Nittany Lions and the Spartan have extensive history this season, having already met twice. Penn State has captured a pair of 4-3 wins over the Michigan State once in East Lansing and once in University Park. The meeting at home on Feb. 5 was not considered a league contest. Overall, Penn State is 7-5 this season.
