No. 41 Northwestern Tops Spartans

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State men's tennis team fell to No. 41 Northwestern Friday night, 7-0, at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Illinois.
The Spartans (4-7, 4-5 Big Ten) had a chance to take an early lead in doubles, but the Wildcats' top duo of Nick Brookes and Simen Bratholm, ranked No. 13 in the nation, outlasted No. 38 Kazuki Matsuno and Nick Williams, 7-6, to secure the first point of dual. The tiebreaker loss snapped Matsuno and Williams' five-match winning streak in Big Ten play.
Jarreau Campbell and Graydon Lair did earn a 7-5 victory against Gleb Blekher and Natan Spear on the third court.
The Wildcats (8-4, 7-3 Big Ten) used the momentum from the win at No. 1 doubles into singles play, taking all six matches in straight sets.
MSU returns to action Sunday, March 28 to take on Illinois in Champaign at 1 p.m. ET.
