Spartans in Sixth Halfway Through the Clemson Invitational

SUNSET, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Michigan State women's golf team played the opening round and then nine holes of the second round on Friday at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina. The Spartans were 11-over-par 299 after the opening round and tied for eighth place, just three shots out of the top four.

The teams also played the opening nine holes of the second round on Friday afternoon. The teams will finish the second round beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, then play the final round to avoid potentially poor weather on Sunday.
Through nine holes of the second round, MSU moved up two spots and will begin play on Saturday in sixth place.
No. 24 Kent State led after round one at 4-under-par 284 and remains in the lead halfway through round two.
Valery Plata led MSU in round one with a 2-under-par 70 – good enough to put her in a tie for second place. Plata was one of just 10 players in the field of 92 to shoot under par in the opening round.
Paz Marfa Sans shot a 1-over-par 73 in round one to put her in a tie for 15th place.
Valentina Rossi shot a 5-over-par 77 in round one, followed by Haylin Harris at 7-over-par 79 and then Leila Raines at 8-over-par 80.
